Lifetime Social Media Manager Andrew Lodge was proud to play his part in Horizon Community College’s Special Awards celebration event at the Holiday Inn, Barnsley on Monday evening.

Andrew, representing Lifetime, is one of Horizon’s I Know I Can patrons (see picture below), who have volunteered to help the college recognise and celebrate the community activities and personal achievements of students.

The patrons came together on Monday, together with special guests Dan Jarvis MP, Angela Smith MP and the Mayor of Barnsley Tim Shepherd, to pay tribute to the students and to present them with their awards.

Dan Jarvis delivered a terrific speech, as did Horizon’s Charlie Brammer and principal Nick Bowen, extolling the virtues of not only the students receiving the special awards but also the town’s young people in general.

The winners on the night were: Jack Bray, Libby Dixon, Anna Firth, Sebastian Garwood, Kadah Glover, Eve Lodge, Megan Lomax, Courtney Mallinder, Eleanor Manley, Rebecca Prigmore and Kate Pursley (all pictured below, together with Dan Jarvis and other dignitaries).

Said a Horizon representative: “The students that have been presented with a special award embody the spirit of Community Enterprise. They have been involved in many remarkable and charitable projects. It has been a privilege to recognise their achievements but also we hope that the students themselves realise that, through their own hard work and dedication, they have in some way made a difference.

“We would also like to thank our patrons who have kindly and generously given their time to add real credibility to this award by interviewing all out students and endorsing the awards we have presented.”
