Lifetime’s new short animated film, designed to help families get to grips with financial planning, is to be premiered at a Barnsley digital business conference.

Lifetime will launch their new three-minute film at the Connected Business Conference at Barnsley Civic on Tuesday, October 13th.

Production of the animated ‘Big Questions’ short, which is scripted and voiced by ‘Bard of Barnsley’ and Lifetime client Ian McMillan and created by Huddersfield-based award-winning Fettle Animation, has been supported by Enterprising Barnsley.

Lifetime communications director Bill Bottomley (pictured below with Social Media Manager Andrew Lodge) said: “We are thrilled with our new animated film which we’re looking forward to screening for the first time at Connected Business.

“The animation aims to help our customers and potential customers consider the kind of financial worries that may keep them awake at night – stuff about their families, health, jobs, future and retirement.

“We are acutely aware that financial planning contains many difficult concepts and a lot of complicated language and, as a company, we’ve always tried to reach out to people and translate it all into more accessible real life considerations.

“Financial planning can be an austere industry and we hope our visual approach will demystify the subject and encourage people to take expert advice.”

More than 100 business people will watch the digital animation and hear how it will be used to communicate with customers via online tools and social media.

The Connected Business Conference is being funded by Enterprising Barnsley, a European-funded programme delivered by Barnsley Council to help business with growth potential.

Event organiser and Enterprising Barnsley’s sector specialist for creative and digital industries Tracey Johnson said: “Lifetime is a leading example of a Barnsley company that has embraced online platforms and social media to get across its key messages to customers and communicate the character, credentials and ethos of its team.

“It is great to see them working with creative specialists to produce another innovative product.

“In an increasingly visual culture, and with consumers spending increasingly more time on their phones, tablets and so on, it is important for businesses to get out there and be seen and heard through digital media such as Facebook and Twitter.

“Research shows that up to 50 per cent of people who watch an engaging film on Twitter, for example, click through to a company website to find out more. And another study has found that seven in 10 people view brands in a more positive light after watching interesting video content from them.

“It is also said that consumers are 85 per cent more likely to purchase a product after watching a video about it.”

This is the fourth annual Connected Business Conference which aims to help Barnsley businesses learn more about utilising digital tools and resources to benefit their business.

Other speakers at the free event will include Richard Dennys of the Digital Business Academy (DBA), part of London’s Tech City plus Barnsley-based lifestyle and women’s issues blogger and journalist Katie Portman. Bill Bottomley will also be joined by Kath Shackleton, of Fettle Animation.
