Some accountants ‘trailing’ behind in Auto Enrolment drive

Lifetime news

Accountants form a crucial link between financial advisers and businesses, but many are lagging behind the advice firms who are already poised to take up the Auto Enrolment opportunity this year.

So says Les Conway of Essentially Financial.

He commented: “IFAs aiming to offer clients an Auto Enrolment service in 2014 should already be well prepared and raring to go.

“The next 12 months will be something of a sweet spot for taking on new clients as employers with between 300 and 50 eligible workers pass the various staging posts.

“April 2014 is likely to mark the time when the effects of Auto Enrolment become very tangible, with the small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) market gearing up to respond to its responsibilities.

“We are already starting to see the number of enquiries increasing.

“Perhaps people are realising there is work to do and that professional advice and support is required.”
